We had a few friends who recently purchased a home, but one friend in particular raved about how great they are, so my partner and I decided to have a chat with them. In my opinion, finding a real estate agent who understands you and what you're looking for is like dating. Sometimes you go on a first date, and you just realize that person is not the one. Other times you go on a date and you just click—instant chemistry. And that's how my partner and I felt about our meeting with Shane and Julie. We just clicked. They got us. Shane and Julie listened to our (long) list of demands (I mean, wish list) and quickly made recommendations on potential areas based on our budget. My partner and I looked around, went to some open houses, told Shane and Julie what we liked and what we didn't like about each listing, and they'd come back with other listings for us to take a look. Then we found our dream home, or at least that's what I thought. We looked, we fell in love, and we were ready to make an offer over our budget because we loved this home so much. Shane and Julie were awesome, but they were also very, very real. They mentioned that the house would be tricky because there weren't that many similar homes in the area to compare against. So we took a chance, we thought we came in with a great offer, but apparently just not good enough. Truthfully, my partner and I were beyond frustrated. Julie took a bit of a gamble and made a suggestion that neither my partner nor I was that interested in. It was a fine house, but I had some reservations about it. Julie pressed a bit more by saying this home was a strong option and that we should seriously consider it. Julie accompanied us for a second walk-through, and we discussed the projects that we could do to make this our home. Seriously, it checked off a bunch of boxes, but it was just missing something. As much as I didn't want to listen to my partner and Julie, we decided to submit an offer. With a bit of negotiation, our second offer was accepted, and we became first-time home owners. If you're still reading, thank you. So I'll wrap this up. My partner and I thought Julie and Shane were excellent partners in all of this. They listened, they recommended, they pushed back a little bit, but most important of all, they were realistic and honest with us. Without them, we wouldn't be in our lovely home, and we're beyond thrilled this is the home that we have—it truly is our home. If and when we decide to sell and buy a new home, we will be absolutely sure to work with Shane and Julie again. Without a doubt.
